Return of the Pigtails
For the first time in over a year, I convinced Josie to let me put pigtails in her hair. I convinced her by telling her that she could wear her hair in pig/pony tails, or we could cut it short. Since she's trying to grow her hair long like Jar Jar Binks, she opted to let me put her hair in pigtails. She spent the rest of her day talking about how pretty she is with pigtails. Coincidentally, one of Ryley's sight words for the week is "pretty". When doing his homework (writing one sentence for each sight word), Ryley showed how tired he was of hearing Josie talk about being pretty with pigtails, he wrote the sentence, "My sistr dus not look pretty."
If you notice, her right eye has quite the shiner. She was running around the Sanctuary at church when I was at work on Thursday, and ran herself full speed right into the corner of a pew. Moments before the impact, I was thinking..."maybe I should tell her to use her walking feet...no...coming to mom's work is so boring for her, I should let her have fun however she can...."

Last Cake...Ever!
Ok, maybe not the last cake ever, but the last cake for cake class. I'm done with all the classes offered at the local craft store, so that's it for cake decorating unless I one day decide to take some courses at the local community college...and I'm not sure there's any need for that.
The cake and the board were covered in fondant, with a fondant "bead" border.
The daisies and bow were made from gum paste. It was a yellow cake with lemon pudding for the filling, and buttercream with a slight lemon flavoring under the fondant.
Skippyjon Jones
The play the first graders put on was Skippyjon Jones and the Big Bones. Each class did one act of the play. Ryley was a narrator, and he had two lines. Unfortunately, we only caught on movie the shorter of his two lines, so his part in this movie is blink-and-you-missed-it. His longer line was earlier, and both times he did a great job enunciating, projecting, and putting feeling into his lines. We were very proud.
